There once was a lovely Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Lucy who was rescued from a puppy farm and lived a few happy years in her new home, before succumbing the illnesses caused by her breeding. Now, finally, she can rest in peace knowing that anti-puppy-farming legislation – to which she gives her name – will come into force next April.
No longer will puppies or kittens be bred in terrible conditions – often on farms – and then be sold on by breeders. And it will be illegal for these lovely animals to be sold without the new owner seeing them interacting with their mother. Hurrah!
