Superbugs in raw pet food

A study published in the journal Royal Society Open Science warns that raw food diets could be bad for our pets. Fashionable brands of raw meat, which are supposedly more natural and healthier, could be exposing our four-legged friends to salmonella, which causes gastroenteritis and diarrhoea, and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The study of 51 brands of raw dog foods, found 37 didn’t meet EU hygiene standards. Better to be safe than sorry – cook any meat you feed your furry friend.
