Drivers should report cat accidents

An MP is determined to give cats the same protection as dogs when it comes to traffic accidents. Rehman Chishti wants drivers who knowingly hit a cat, to report it. He also believes owners should be required to have their cats microchipped – an estimated 25% of cats aren’t.

Says Mr Chishti: “It’s about animal welfare and doing the right thing………..cat’s bring people immense happiness, and if they’ve been tragically killed on the road, people do want closure. They want to know what’s happened to their loved ones.” He’s being supported by Cat Matters (www.catsmatter.org), a campaigning group hoping to see an end to injured cats suffering and dying on roadsides. Here’s to that.
