A few years’ ago, when I was writing a series of animal health guides, I spoke to a number of owners about complementary therapies and which ones had helped their pets to cope with conditions such as epilepsy and arthritis. Reiki therapy was mentioned quite often and as I’d had Reiki treatment, I could see how this gentle, relaxing therapy could work for animals too.
So I decided to become a practitioner. It would offer me the opportunity to help those furry friends needing some extra support to live their lives to the full; and the chance to bond further with my lovely cat Sweepie, who became a willing accomplice in my Reiki journey.
The best part of the job is helping animals to heal themselves – they do all the work, really. And watching them live a happier life, full of energy and hopefully free from pain. Our firm friends can receive Reiki therapy as many times as they want, for as long as they choose. Some animals receive Reiki healing energy as part of end-of-life care.
The most difficult part of being a Reiki practitioner is overcoming the scepticism some owners have about whether the treatment will work. It can be a challenge to convince them about the power of Reiki healing but, luckily, most of them come round to believing pretty soon. If you would like to know more about how Reiki could help your pet who’s perhaps anxious; struggling with arthritis or epilepsy or just needs some extra attention, do please get in touch with me via the Contact page. Thank you.
