How vets cope with euthanising pets

It’s so hard to say goodbye to our beloved four-legged friends. I still grieve for my lovely moggie, Sweepie, who left us in 2017. Pushing 20 years’ old, he was one of the gentlest, sweetest cats you could ever want to share your life with.

It was so painful to lose him from my life, but I often wonder how my the felt having to put down yet another animal; even if it was to free Sweepie from any more pain. Had he developed a thick skin, seeing euthanasia as ‘just part of the job’….or was he upset too?

I’ll be looking into this very question for an article I’m writing over the next few weeks. If you have any experiences you’re happy to share with me on this subject, do please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you.
