People battling boredom during lockdown by taking on a four-legged friend to keep them company while they’re stuck at home, have been raising concern among animal welfare groups about what might happen when lockdown’s fully lifted.
Says Dr Sam Gaines, a welfare expert at the RSPCA. ”People need to question whether their lifestyle is actually compatible with having a dog once we go back to normality. We may end up with people having to make a very difficult decision to give their dog up…..bringing them into the RSPCA and other animal welfare organisations to rehome.’
